Tessera and ‘Research-Create-Innovate’

Tessera submitted a proposal in the first cycle of the unified action ‘Research – Create – Innovate‘, which was approved for funding. The purpose of the action is to:

  • connect research and innovation with entrepreneurship
  • enhance competitiveness, productivity and outward orientation of businesses towards international markets.

with the aim of transitioning to high-quality, innovative entrepreneurship and increasing domestic added value.

The funded research project is titled: Diabetes Mellitus: development and use of a digital application as a vehicle to manage the disease. It concerns the development of a software platform for diabetes management, targeting individuals with diabetes and their healthcare providers. The platform will consist of a web application and a mobile application compatible with both Android and iOS operating systems. Project duration: 30 months.

The goal is for the application to serve as a self-management tool for Diabetes Mellitus (DM), featuring automated data input from third-party devices (such as glucometers, blood pressure monitors, etc.) and apps (e.g., fitness tracking applications), as well as a personalized insulin dose calculation tool. Key features of the application will include: monitoring of diabetes-related measurements, easy data import/export, generation of detailed reports and charts, and smart reminders to support comprehensive condition management. All data will be accessible by healthcare providers, enabling real-time monitoring of the patient’s information, access to historical records, and identification of trends — thereby allowing the provision of personalized, high value-added medical services.

The proposal was submitted in collaboration with the company Anats S.A., which operates in the healthcare sector, primarily engaged in the import, export, manufacturing, and distribution of medical, hospital, parapharmaceutical products, and medical devices. Project code: T1EDK-00404
