Virtual Tour of the Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest

A three-dimensional presentation of the Petrified Forest Museum and a virtual tour of its premises. This is a VR Real-Time 3D tour implemented using OpenGL and DirectX (Direct3D) technologies. Our company created a 3D visualization environment that accurately depicts the museum’s layout and integrated 3D representations of exhibits within it.

In this way, users are able to navigate through a three-dimensional environment that represents the spaces of the Museum and to preview the exhibits located within from all angles, giving the user the sense of actually being inside these areas. The features offered by the application include:

• Free navigation within the virtual space
• Interactivity with the objects in the virtual environment

The application also includes guided tours through the areas of Petrified Forest, featuring photos of the exhibits, videos, a reconstruction of the formation of the Petrified Forest, a timeline and a glossary of terms.
