If your website gets hacked, stay calm and follow basic steps to minimize the damage.
Tessera offers specialized support and a security package that includes updates, backups, and protection monitoring
A website attack (hacking) is something that can happen to anyone, even to well-protected sites. What matters most is to act quickly and in an organized way, without panic.
Here are the six steps we recommend you follow.
1) Currently .. out of service
If you can, set your website to “maintenance mode” or ask your hosting provider to temporarily disable it so that the problem doesn’t spread.
2) Immediately change all your passwords
Especially those for the admin account, FTP, and database. Use strong, unique passwords (at least 10 characters, combining letters – numbers – symbols).
3) Check for suspicious files or plugins
Look for recently uploaded files, unfamiliar plugins, or changes to system files. If you’re not sure, don’t delete them yourself, you could cause additional damage.
4) Scan your website for malware
There are online tools, such as Sucuri, that can detect infected files. However, if the damage appears to be extensive, you will need technical support.
5) Perform a security check of your HTTP headers
At securityheaders.com, you can see whether your website complies with essential security policies.
