Tessera was very pleased to participate this year in the 1st FUTURE CITY Innovation Festival, which took place in our city, Thessaloniki, from May 10th to 16th, 2010
At the exhibition held at Warehouse D in the Port, we presented the “Smart Crosswalk”, an innovative device aimed at improving road safety and preventing traffic accidents involving pedestrians.
The Smart Crosswalk is an innovative pedestrian safety system. Through traffic lights that are visible both day and night, it alerts drivers to the presence of a pedestrian who is either crossing or near the crosswalk and intends to walk, especially in conditions of reduced visibility that may prevent the driver from seeing the pedestrian.
The traffic light is activated when a pedestrian passes through a set of photoelectric sensors located on each side of the road. In this way, the device provides automatic communication between the pedestrian and the driver allowing drivers to be aware when someone is crossing the crosswalk.
