The new website of the Municipality of Thessaloniki

Tessera, as a subcontractor of the company OTS, undertook the implementation of the project for creating the new website of the Municipality of Thessaloniki and successfully completed it. Visitors to the new website will find useful information about the Municipality’s services, the history and culture of Thessaloniki, as well as events and activities taking place in the city.

The website has been designed with a primary focus on user-friendliness and optimal visitor experience, while taking into account the principles of responsive design to ensure proper functionality on mobile phones and tablets

The website includes a subsystem for managing and posting events with a calendar, which presents all municipal activities and events in an aesthetically pleasing way, with temporal, local, and thematic references.

Additionally, the platform ‘SynTHESSI’ is integrated into the website. This online tool aims to encourage the development of civil society by allowing registration and the addition of events or activities related to groups or organizations in the city.

Additionally, the website features an interactive map that displays the city’s most important points of interest, along with additional information for each landmark. The website has been designed to accommodate a large number of simultaneous visitors with fast response and performance, while also aiming for the best and most comprehensive representation of the organization

The project was implemented using the WordPress platform with Multisite functionality, which allows the Municipality to support a network of websites from a single WordPress installation.
